MR (Machine Room) type lifts place the traction machine and control panel in a dedicated room above the lift shaft. This design requires additional concrete construction on the building's top floor.
MRL (Machine Room-less) type lifts place a compact traction machine inside the hoistway itself, while the control panel is mounted on the external wall near the top floor, saving significant architectural space.
Maintenance Accessibility and Safety Standards
For regular maintenance, the MR type provides excellent accessibility for technicians since the machinery is in a spacious, enclosed area.
However, modern MRL technology comes equipped with automatic rescue devices and advanced safety sensors, offering high safety guarantees equal to classic MR systems.
